Death Note series is based off of a Note Book, called Death Note. Shinagami, ( gods of death) or in your case demons, carry then and may missplace them in the hands of a human being. THe death Note works like this.If you write the anme of a human in the death note, this person will die,
Light is the one who finds this death note and the demons name is Ryuk. Light writes the names of criminals in the death note, but in order for it to work properly you have to spell the name correctly, write first and last name, and picture the person in your mind while writing the name.
Once the name is writin, they die. you can also give a reason for there death, like for instance
you can write a persons name and then tell how they die
(exsample)
Joe Ford - dies from car crash
and the person dies from a car crash. anyway you get my point. and if a reason is not givin by 40 secs after the name is writin, they die instantly of a heart attack
After Light wrote so many anmes without giving reasons, many criminals died of a heart attack so FBI and police though someone was killing them, so they called this Person KIRA (which means killer or something like that) they hired L, a detective to try to solve this case and find out who is doing it and how. and thats pretty much the show
