Chapter 1 - Direction
Everyday I walk this path
And everyday I find
That everyday I reach a fork
And can't make up my mind.
They present me with two choices;
The same two everyday
But I always stop to wonder
If there's not another way.
But too afraid to question
The rules by which we're run,
I continue on my journey:
I take road number one.
But the further down the road I walk,
The less I feel I belong.
As an idea begins to formulate:
I might have chosen wrong.
So the next day I come again
To that fateful intersection,
Hoping that today I will
Choose the right direction.
So I learn from my mistakes,
And now knowing what not to do,
I pass the first completely;
I take road number two.
Less mundane and more peculiar,
I prefer road number two,
But I cannot help but noticing
It's only traveled by a few.
But still it does not fulfill me,
And it cannot end my quest:
It is certain this path is better,
But it still is not the best.
So once again the next day,
I find myself perplexed.
Standing at the crossroad,
Not knowing which I should take next.
But then the answer becomes clear:
It's all up to me;
I pave the road I want to walk
I take road number three.
And everyday I find
That everyday I reach a fork
And can't make up my mind.
They present me with two choices;
The same two everyday
But I always stop to wonder
If there's not another way.
But too afraid to question
The rules by which we're run,
I continue on my journey:
I take road number one.
But the further down the road I walk,
The less I feel I belong.
As an idea begins to formulate:
I might have chosen wrong.
So the next day I come again
To that fateful intersection,
Hoping that today I will
Choose the right direction.
So I learn from my mistakes,
And now knowing what not to do,
I pass the first completely;
I take road number two.
Less mundane and more peculiar,
I prefer road number two,
But I cannot help but noticing
It's only traveled by a few.
But still it does not fulfill me,
And it cannot end my quest:
It is certain this path is better,
But it still is not the best.
So once again the next day,
I find myself perplexed.
Standing at the crossroad,
Not knowing which I should take next.
But then the answer becomes clear:
It's all up to me;
I pave the road I want to walk
I take road number three.
