Picture
Doctor, scientist and Ghostbuster Mr. Egon Spengler. This Egon is a mix between the cartoon and the movie. His hair and face are based on the cartoon but his outfit and proton pack is based on the film. The reason for that is because I liked the cartoon look of Egon a little more but I liked the way the proton packs looked in the film, they didn’t need to be recharged, the power cells have a half-life of 5,000 years and their movie coverall outfits looked better since they were all the same color.
I made a mistake on the proton pack's particle thrower... Egon should be holding the handle in his right hand since it’s placed on the right side of the pack for right-handed people. I'm right-handed myself but you would think that Egon and Ray would have made it able to place the particle thrower on either side of the pack, for anyone who is right or left-handed.
Drawing the proton pack wasn't easy, I thought I could draw it from memory... but I couldn't, so I of course needed a lot of pictures from the films. Looking at the way it was enhanced in the video game... that's just way too much stuff and detail to try and draw. Drawing Egon's pompadour hairstyle from the 80s cartoon show also wasn't easy to do. I didn't want to overdo it, it's not as big as the way the series had it. I had almost gone with the hairstyle that he had in Extreme Ghostbusters (a terrible written show) where his hair was longer and combed back into a ponytail, but I of course saved that for another picture.

Personal History
I remember when I was like 5 or 6 years old in 1987 or 88, I would draw a lot of Ghostbuster pictures with the whole team blasting a ghost. I was such a fan, I had the outfit (homemade), the ghost symbol, the proton pack, the trap, Ecto goggles, the P.K.E. meter, Ecto 1 (my dad even made me an Ecto 1 birthday cake), Janine's car and all the action figures... but I didn't have the firehouse. My dad tried to get me one for 2 years but the stores were always sold out, I mean people even went to the factors where they were made to get them. My dad had to give-up because by the time of the early 1990s, Ghostbusters II (1989) had of course come and gone, the cartoon show was cancelled in 91, I was still a fan but my interest in such things was going elsewhere.
In the past few months, I've gotten back into the film and cartoon series. I noticed that in the cartoon, Janine wasn't the only woman that liked Egon. There was a librarian, a little girl in a town filled with Vampires and Werewolves, three collage students, a reporter who was doing an article on them, although she seemed to like all the Ghostbuster except for Peter... well until the end of the episode, and a strange southern female ghost.
It's a shame that there isn't more Ghostbuster fan art here or even a category for them. I mean it still has a huge fan base, the 1-4 mini series comic book Ghostbusters: Legion that came out in 2004 and 05, issue #1 sold out and so did the other issues. The video game that came out in June 2009 sold over 1 million unites by mid-July.
Extremely Lame Ghostbusters
The Ghostbusters quit because there's no ghost to bust anymore, but when ghost do show up again, the characters, expect for Egon and Janine, don't come back... instead they tried to replace the original characters in Extreme Ghostbusters in 1997 and it was a complete failure, it's no wonder it lasted for only 1 season. I mean who gives a shoot about some dumb high school teens???? I mean a weird looking albino girl (I know she's a Goth but nobody wears that shoot 24/7) that for some dumb reason wears some type of football gear and not a Ghostbusters uniform??? Then there's a Mexican stereotype, a rip-off of Winston (in looks only) and a cripple in a wheelchair???? Half the places where the Ghostbusters go, a wheelchair wouldn't even make it. The animation and the character designs are just pure crap.
1.They didn't have nearly the guts or the appeal that the originals had.
2.They hardly ever crack good jokes.
3.They whine, there irritatingly arrogant and obnoxious ("Ungrateful little yuppie larva!").
4.They're in school and yet they can do this too???? That's not believable at all, not even in a cartoon world like this, the originals were already adults and Egon, Ray and Peter already had collage degrees.
5.There new equipment was ugly as hell.
6.When Ray, Peter and Winston show up in the last episode... the writers made them look like idiots... talk about no respect to the originals. By that point, they should already be experts in Ghostbusting.
7.The team goes their separate ways when there are no more ghost to catch, but when ghost show up again, where were they, why didn't they come back, why wait until the last episode????? What was the point to having these new characters when Ray, Peter and Winston were going to come back and be the Ghostbusters again anyway??????
A 3rd Film
I've heard that Dan Aykroy considers the 2009 video game to be the 3rd sequel and I agree. Maybe they could have done what the Batman and the James Bond films did, get new actors for the parts and just continue the storyline from where they left off instead of replacing them with new characters. But so many writers, directors and actors of this decade suck, even the veterans can't do it anymore (not all, but many).
As for the reboot, it's a progressive PC pro-government chick flick with annoying main characters who are simply not funny or interesting. With crappy ghost designs, no plot other than saying that women are great and men are either dumb or assholes. But that's not surprising since it was written and directed by a man hating male feminist, the company Sony blocked any bad press about the film before it was released and picked certain reviewers who would give the film nothing but praise... good god. If you think the reason why most people hate this film is just because it's an all-female cast, then you're ignoring what most people are actually saying.

Just like with the remake, I had no interest in seeing Afterlife, most of the time kids in films, TV, books, comics and video games don't interest me, it just wanted to be Stranger Things, but with ghost. Adults are just much more interesting characters, particular the original Ghostbusters with the jokes they were able to tell... you can't do that with kids, it comes across as forced. The virute signaling was obvious, the new characters were annoying, they were not funny or interesting or likable and Egon was made to look like a deadbeat because men can't be good fathers these days. It relies too much on nostalgia, it just repeats the plot of the first film, but toned down, the stakes were a lot higher in the first film, in the original Gozer and the terror dogs were a real threat that they had to outsmart to destroy. But now it turns out the dogs can be trapped like any other ghost and Gozer can simply be blasted. On top of that it all takes place on a small farm instead of a city which really takes away any sort of huge otherworldly threat to all of humanity. The originals turning up were just glorified cameos and rehashing old jokes. It feels as if the writers inserted themselves into the film as kids, wanting to play with the equipment.
Capitalist Film
Ghostbusters has to be one of the most pro-capitalist movies ever made and I don't mean that's a bad thing, it's a good thing when you consider that most Hollywood films bash it. There about a small group of people with a unique business model, New York City is in need of service of catching ghost, they carefully utilize marketing to expand their customer base and they do it all on their own.
"I've worked in the private sector. They expect results."
--Ray Stantz
The real bad guy in the movie was Walter Peck, a know-nothing government EPA bureaucrat, he went by the assumption from what only the media said (because they always tell the truth) that what they were doing was hazardous, "a lot of wild stories in the media". He forces the Ghostbusters to shutdown but based on no evidence if what they were doing was actually dangerous. The only thing that happens was that ghost escaped, that isn't good but it wasn't hazardous waste or any kind of dangerous chemicals, all his assumptions were wrong. Even though he was the reason the Containment blows up, he blames them and are wrongfully arrested. He then further accuses them of being con artist.
"These men are complete snowball artists. They use nerve and sense gases to induce hallucinations. People think they're seeing ghosts and they call these bozos, who conveniently show up to deal with the problem with a fake electronic light show."
But he still has no proof.
"Everything was fine with our system until the power grid was shut off by dickless here."
When the city government was completely overwhelmed, they make a deal with the mayor because Peter offers a better solution to the problem, that the outcome will be beneficial for the mayor, more votes, they'll pay the price if they're wrong but they of course save the day. The way the EPA is shown in the film is pretty accurate to real life. The only people I see saying that Peck was right are these government loving leftist liberals...
