Midoriko

Midoriko! The miko of legend that created the Shikon no Tama. Despite being something of a non-character, (only in one episode, and then mostly in oral history) I've always been somewhat fascinated with her. The first life to be destroyed by the Shikon no Tama.
 
Her face looks a bit funny to me, in looking back at this older sketch of mine, but in a way I also like that. It gives her character, which a girl with no lines of dialogue and nearly no screen time sorely needs. :) I like that her nostrils look flared, as if she was getting worked up in battle.
 
The only edit I did on the original pencil piece was to digitally sharpen the lines a bit, since I got complaints that it looked too soft and vague.
