Was this picture scanned or taken with a camera? It looks like camera...Focusing will be hard then, a scanner would be prefered.
To see if a pic's too big, it's good to open up the file in MS Paint.
If it is too big, the sizing there works pretty good [just make sure your picture is NOT selected when you size it up]
Use the stretch/skew action, and keep the %s the same...
I know 'cuz it happened to me. :)
