Ienzo

My contest entry for . This is my own rendition of Ienzo since Zexion interests me to no end.

Did an initial sketch on paper and then scanned and CG'd in Photoshop 7.

I think I'm starting to get the hang of doing faces. Ienzo's nose and mouth is possibly the most decent-looking nose and mouth I've ever painted. If I keep this up, I'll master doing faces in about... TEN YEARS!

Yes, I am aware that he seems a little unproportioned, but that's because his shirt is throwing your eyes off. It's not tucked in so you can't really tell where his upper body ends and his lower body begins. Just use your imagination.


Ienzo's Story (made this up LONG before Birth by Sleep was finished)

Ienzo was born into a middle-class family deep in the suburbs of Radiant Garden. He was a quiet, inquisitive little boy who had not many friends, if any at all. His attire is usually very simple, as he prefers to wear clothes that are comfortable rather than be up to date on the latest fashions. Usually alone without companions, he found comfort and excitement in books, a pastime he came to inherit from his bookworm of a mother who read anything that interested her whether they be tomes or tales. His father, a lieutenant of Ansem the Wise's guards, tried to teach him the art of combat. However, after barely mastering the basics, Ienzo quickly ended his father's combative teachings in favor of strategy training. Ienzo's father was quick to see his son's astounding skills in the art of strategy and manages to get his son accepted as a disciple of Ansem as soon as he graduated from junior high.

Ienzo's foray into the study of darkness was ignited by his discussions of Ansem the Wise's experiments on darkness with his only friend and fellow disciple, Elaeus. His interests gradually shifted from strategies to theories of darkness, though his strategic skills never waned in the least. Throughout his training, Ienzo always kept his precious books close to remind him of his loving parents.

During his tutelage under Ansem the Wise, a girl caught Ienzo's eye whom he slowly came to fall in love with. Quite lacking in social skills, and shy to boot, Ienzo failed numerous times to approach her to even say hello. Sadly, a little less than a year passed after Ienzo became a disciple of Ansem when the darkness overtook Radiant Garden and he lost his heart in the calamity. He never got to tell that girl how he felt. The last thing he remembered about her was the faint scent of lavender...
