In case anyone is wondering how I color these: I sketch them out in pencil, scan them in, darken them, then make layers, one color for each and turn them onto multipy. Tada! Quick, fast, coloring!
So, as far as this design sheet goes. I drew the 3/4 view when I realized that the day I was designing this I could not draw front views to save my life....so I drew that to make me feel better, and it looks cool, and it shows more of the character, so whoot.
Also...sorry for not drawing his sword, there is a reason or two for that. The honest reason is that I forgot to finish it....but it's not really necessary here. It will probably get its own picture. A short bit about it though: it is supposed to look like the hands of a clock, like his brooch. There is good reason for that but I won't say it for spoiler reasons.
OK.....what to say about Kumori....there's a lot to this character. Sadly, he origionally came out of necesity...and on accident. Simply someone for Katsu to fight. But of course, he has evloved far from that.
Kumori was never truely "evil", though it may seem that way. After his father left to who knows where Kumori was forced to take over ruling the kingdom at a fairly young age..um, I haven't qute figured it out but he would have been around seventeenish. But he managed it well and was actually a pretty good king. He truely cared about his people and kingdom.
Then he left one day...I know why but won't say so just to save some of the story for anyone who actually cares to read this stuff (which is awesome...as this is more or less Blade's adventures in writing etc.) He joins with a rival group...which once again I won't say much about...And he elevates himself to the status of general. All the time he knows what Katsu is up to, he keeps a close eye on him, and other things for that matter.
I supose I should offer an explinaton as to why he destroys his village....but I won't in detail. You can be assured however that he didn't do it just because, or because he was evil. There was lots of reasoning and it was for everyone's own good. He didn't set out to kill anyone...no one was even there, well, almost no one....but there was a point behind all this.
Wow...realizing how little I can write about him makes me realize how important to the plot he is, in fact, his character is probably more tied into it than Katsu's.
Kumori is totally 100% copyright me....character design, description and all.
