Lost-Katsu-Char Sketch

Katsu is the whole reason Lost exists. I drew him one day while babysitting...and believe me, he did NOT look like this...He looked like this: http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y18/bladededragon/katsuold.jpg
Agh! It's hideous! Shield your eyes, protect your children! His arm looks painful....and I can't even begin to comprehend his sword... If you dare to look I dug this out of where I had it sealed away deep below a stack of....other old pictures...

Katsu was never originally a tiger, he wasn't even Katsu...if anyone remembers, he was "Tiger Dude".
He had stripes on his face because I had been watching way too much .hack and thought that his face looked too empty. I drew his shirt like that to make it "different" I always used to draw the same type of character back then so this actually was different for me. He had long hair and was a guy, *gasp!* and had animal ears and earrings! Woa! Pioneer here! He was blue because that was my favorite color at the time.

Obviously this design has evolved quite a bit since then...yeah. I think somewhere in there I actually learned how to draw as well. That always helps. Um...this is actually everyone's first time seeing this costume huh? As you can see it's changed quite a bit. He has belts now! That is because belts are the best....it's like how KH has zippers everywhere. The two layers of clothing thing I actually got from making up Blade's costume. Yep.

I'm debating what swords he carries, it makes no sense for him to have a katana...but part of me wants to ignore that. What do you guys honestly think? I'd really like to know. (he has a katana in the first place because it is the sword I know how to use). But I still plan on having him carry two different swords.

Regarding Katsu and his story and role: He was originally a bad guy for another wannabe manga I was making (which was seriously really only drawing practice for me) but the more I developed him the more I liked him, then I liked him more than my other characters, then I decided he was the best and forgot about everyone else (except Tez and Sabire who are in all my works). He was still kinda evil at this point but a lot less so than before. He was still a mercenary with way too much blood on his hands, but this time he was going against that. That was all fine and dandy until I realized that he had to have a back story. So I came up with reasons: he left his village because it was burnt to the ground and everyone was gone and his mother was dead and became a mercenary for revenge but got too drawn into it. Then I decided to make him king, the reasoning being that it gave him a lot more responsibility and purpose.

But he really does not like being king. He took the position at a young age (12 I think) after Kumori left and hated everything about it. He was much happier running around in the markets and sitting in the woods being a transcendentalist. And of course enjoying an wonderful secret romance with Tez. His mother was not happy and it's no wonder why Ishari doesn’t like him. At 17 he leaves to do the mercenary thing and by 21 he goes home and rethinks his life...no jedi involved...

Oh and also, if this is really dark on your computer, please tell me. I was looking at some of my stuff on some other peoples comptuers and was basically like: "That is not how it is supposed to look!" (well no duh Blade) but yeah, the cape is dark forest green...
