Waiferal

The name's a combination of the words waif and feral.

These poor waifs were orphaned at birth and abandoned by their owners not much later in life. They scrape an existence by sulking around dark alleyways and side streets, scavenging for leftovers, although the heavy iron ball tail makes it very difficult for them get around, let alone hunt.
Fortunately there are always a handful of people compassionate and resourceful enough to take care of them, but it isn’t easy...
