I got the idea for this while playing Golden Sun: Dark Dawn. There's an item in the game called Mithryl Silver. I just really liked the name...

Little and unassuming, sightings of Thrylmyth have been so few and far between that, like Mew, it’s still considered to be a mirage by most.
Thrylmyth’s front “paws”, horns and feet are crafted from a curious and mystical metal known as mithryl; this is what makes it so light and agile yet so tough and durable. Thylmyth has complete control over the elements: it can instantly change its elemental type at will. The colours of the four ‘screens’ on its ears and tail fluctuate accordingly to show its current elemental alignment.
