It's Davy Jones and Tia Dalma when they were teenagers! Here's my version of their backstories:
Davy: Grew up among pirates, maybe ran away from home. Was given chest with key after plundering some town with his crew. He also probobly loved to hear old sea stories, not knowing that someday he would become one. Met Tia and fell in love with her almost instantly.
Tia: Started studying Voodoo when she was about ten or so. Met Davy when they were about thirteen or fourteen. More than likely an orphan.

your interpretation of davy without tentacles is interesting. I would never have guessed he was a blonde... I like it
