I found out when I signed onto the 'net that morning. The homepage actually had a short write up on it. The first words out of my mouth were 'Oh no...' and my thoughts went to his family. It wasn't until later (when it really sank in) that I wondered if the numb/shocked feeling was what the fans of John Lennon must have felt when news of his shooting death in 1980 first reached them?
My first memory of seeing Steve Irwin on TV was on an Animal Planet special of some kind. I sat there and wondered 'Who in the world is THIS nut?' and watched in amazement as he jumped on the back of a crocodile.
He's yet another one who was gone far too soon. I hope he's able to rest in peace.

I woke up that morning and felt really sick, then when I went out and saw on the news that Steve Irwin had been killed I burst out crying. He was so amazing, and it was sucha shock. I suppose one good thing is that he died doing what he loved, if indeed, there can be anything good about him being gone. I love this picture, and I'm sure he would too.

I cried when I heard that he had died.
I'd always wanted to go to Australia and see him at the zoo...
