You could try laying everything out with a ruler and then making them fancier. That may help you keep them where you want them to be.

See you have been drawing the same person and same pose .... Anyway, as for the wing thing, I think you can roughly sketch out the way you want the wings to look like before adding in the details. I suggest you check out some of CLAMP's works or -who's that lady who draw Kamikaze Kaito Jeanne??-'s works. Everything starts with basics and it is very important to get the picture of wings clear, before going into drawing mechanical wings or adding anything to them. (I find that the wings you drew kind of lack feathers.)<br />
And also, where's the other wing??
