Jake: I care for you, more than I should.

Trixie: Stop it, Jake. Before you say something you'll regret.

Jake: What I regret is not telling you sooner.

Trixie: Then you should keep regretting, because I'm with Spud-

Jake: Don't you think I know that? Do you think it's easy for me to be in love with you when you're going out with my best friend?

Trixie: What?

Jake: Don't act like you didn't hear me or that you haven't always known it. . . I love you.

Trixie: No, you don't. You're in love with Rose. You're confused because of what happened today.

Jake: Don't tell me how I feel. I obsessed over Rose to get over you. . . it didn't work.

Trixie: Jake, please, don't say things like that.

Jake: Fine. If you can tell me you've never felt anything more than friendship for me.

Trixie: I don't want to hurt Spud.

Jake: That's not what I asked you.

Trixie: Maybe.

Jake: Yes or no?

Trixie: Yes. Are you happy now?

Jake: No, because I don't want to hurt him either.

Trixie: I don't know what you want me to say.

Jake: Neither do I. All I know is that I thought I had lost you today, without you knowing the truth. Some regrets I can live with, but there are two that I can't. The first would be never telling you that I love you.

Trixie: And the second?

Jake: The second. . . would be never knowing the touch of your lips against mine.
