Oh, it's a celebration in my homeland which is "a separated Christmas" in a proper sense, because the candy is given on that day, while the other presents on Christmas day^^On Santa Claus' day, kids take their clean boots on the windowsill, and while they're sleeping, Santa fills them with candy, or with a birch (instead of coal) if they were bad during the year^^
It comes from a legend, which says Saint Nicolaus (Santa's figure is based on him) wanted to help on the children of a poor family, so he took gold into the boots of theirs, when they placed them on the windowsill in order to make them dried.
