The idea for this one came from sitting outside and looking up at the sky. I very much wanted to draw something like that. After failing miserably several times, I finally got the pose right.

BLMThis drawing shows that you know about increasing saturation in between the two extremes of light and shadow to cause the picture to appear more interesting. At least this is what it looks like you did with the nearest wing, the rest I'm not so sure about. This drawing and pose also demonstrates some understanding of the effect of perspective on an object. The anatomy is also alright, but would probably look better with the legs back farther and a bit more definition in the claw. I'm not trying to flame, just trying to point out somethings that sometimes are overlooked. Overall I'll rate it good.

FeoranPrideI appreciate your input. If I recall, I tried to be extreme with the light and shadow to give the picture a more harsh look, and yes, to make it appear more interesting. But overall I was just playing with the shading and lighting tools. This was back when I first got the program Open Canvas which makes this drawing around three years old. I've moved on to Photoshop since then which has a much more precise tool set. I thought about re-doing the coloring but I didn't save the outline file, stupid me. And as for the anatomy issues...I'd fix them if I knew where this drawing even was, lol. Thanks for your time. Your feedback is duly noted.

BLMYeah, open canvas is fun to play with sometimes, but photoshop is better for getting the job done. My own gallery of fail is here: http://www.ligersunion.com/fandom/index.php?main=lonedrifter if you want to duly note it also.

I appreciate the fact that you did not instantly flame me just because I brought you art into question. I've had this happen to me before on fac. I guess that some people think that everything they make is da bomb and nobody can criticize them. Its is especially lame when they have a team of meat or sock puppets. You go out of your way to give advice then get bashed on the head.

FeoranPrideI understand completely what you mean. I welcome critiques, good or bad because it can only make you better as an artist. And it really bugs when people just say "Cool" or "OHHHHHHH!! ME LIKE!!!! *FAVS*" because it isn't really helpful. Anyhow, you've got some beautiful artwork here on ligersunion.

BLMThank you for the compliment. I post there mainly because I don't like all of the advertising that fac does. Nobody there tries to critique art work, so I found another place that does. I usually draw separate pictures for the site that does critique. However, having others critique my art has helped me to critique my own. As I do this it gets easier and easier to see flaws in my own art and others. The other site I post at is for an open source game that has developed its own standards that all art submitted must meet. The website for the game is currently down and I don't know when it will be back up.
