Straight Arrow started as a radio theater program in 1949, created to be used to to advertise for a cereal.

The story of Straight Arrow is that he is a Comanche Indian, orphaned at the age of 10, when his village is massacred.
A white family named Adams adopts him, names him Steve and raise him as their son. Steve Adams later inherit the ranch.

Steve Adams is known as a standup cattle rancher, but he is also Straight Arrow, an Indian fighter of evil. Straight Arrow has a hidden cave on the Adam's ranch where he is donning the clothes and face paint of Straight Arrow and rides out on the horse Fury to fight injustice, or to spend some time with the local Indian tribes.

No one knows that Steve Adams and Straight Arrow are the same person, except the old prospector Packy McCloud.

Straight Arrow made the jump to comic books in 1950 with script by Gardner Fox and art by Fred Meagher. It ran for 55 issues and ended in 1956, outlasting the radio program with about 5 years.
