The picture on the left was taken on my cell phone, the one on the right was scanned as a gray image. Both of them are nothing compared to the original but I posted them both side-by-side because I think they both exhibit important aspects that didn't really stand out in the other. For instance, I think his mouth looks better in the scan than in the photo.

This scan looks like crap!!!

I used a ref image and also viewed many a helpful tutorial on realistic people and drawing linkenesses specifically. Credit to the writers, I looked at so many, both on google and devi, and I don't really remember who did them.

I worked on this for maybe three hours and it is only the third attempt I have ever made at a realistic person, and the first ever posted on DA.

I don't really need criticism, but I am open to advice on drawing realistically. ANY COMMENTS APPRECIATED
