The explanation for the eye is that there was a crystal ball there but her right eye was gouged out during a heavy battle and she decided that she would get back at them by showing it off on her magic staff and the killing them with their last memory being her eye. She put the crystal ball in her eye socket. (that is to just gross you out.)Well, there you go!
