I present the 4th installment of the challenge thing. One day I felt like drawing a Vortian, and I just happened to want to draw Prisoner 777. I found a pic of him online and attempted to draw him for the first time. I'd say it's pretty close. And under the pic, there was a caption that said, "He looks sad." I got to wondering why he looked sad (besides the fact he's in a prison) and was obligated to come up with a reason. Developing background characters is always fun!

I was hoping to come up with a really solid story by the time I submitted this, but I was only able to get so far. I figured that he had to have some kind of life before it went downhill for the Vortians. And I'm sure you all would agree that he had an actual name at one point. Sadly, I couldn't think of one since I'm so used to him being 777. But there's no excuse for his wife and kid. I fail.

Anyway, before his imprisonment, he worked on the design of the Massive (no duh) and probably other ships as well. He had a good life with a loving wife and son, and was always happy to see them whenever he could get some time off from work. Things seemed to be going well until problems arose and the Armada started bearing down on the Vortians after Larb conquered Vort. Most Vortians were probably unaware that he had been a threat all along. At the time, many of them may have still been working alongside the Irkens. Of course, they'd still be working with them, but in a very different way come the enslavement of the Vortians. Despite being the Massive's key designer, Prisoner 777 did not get special treatment. He was taken away from his family and thrown into a cell, never knowing what became of the ones he loved.

Self-Critique

I don't know where to start. I love it! I had to fix up the pink background in Paint somewhat since my scanner has found a new color to hate on. But I love the colors and the coloring itself. Since I loved this pic so much, I went all out, working on it longer than some other things I've put out recently. I think it's cute. I attempted to make a lens flare on the photo, but I didn't get it the way I wanted. Looks ok though. I'm mad that the photo itself is crooked and narrow like that. And I know there's some technical issues with his hands...I didn't notice it until after I colored them. I easily get confused when things are facing a different direction, lol. Oh! This is the pic in which I have successfully drawn a Vortian looking forward for the first time. It's not perfect, but it's my best attempt so far. :D
