The Squad

I've been drawing these guys non-stop since December because they're so much fun to draw and rp about. So you'll be seeing a lot more of them. It's rare for me to draw the same characters again and again. But out of all my OCs, these dudes interest me the most. They are alive long enough to have some connection with Dana and them, but it's very minimal.

In these scene, the guys are being distracted as usual when they should be training. What's basically going on:

Almond: *thinking* I like yo-yo's...
Ted: You are a girl and there's no denying it.
Knave: Skitz is not, nor ever was a girl, Ted.
Layer: *thinking* Must keep an eye on Skitz...yes...I hate him...
Charlie: *sigh* C'mon guys, we really have to get back to training...

Charlie is the Commander of this particular squad. Ever since he was young, he wanted to be a general just like his father, Jag. He was actually a very happy Smeet until the day Jag had to lead his Irkens into battle on Meekrob. He promised to come back, but he ended up getting killed when he jumped in the way of an oncoming laser to save a fellow comrade. For the longest time, Charlie believed his dad would come back since he never broke his promises. In the meantime, he was very moody and hardly ever smiled anymore. It was clear that his father was dead when his mother, Leona, started dating again. Of course, he hated every single one of the guys she'd bring home. He still wanted to be a general so he was able to keep his grades up and work hard. He knew Almond, Knave, and Ted in school. Skitz was in the same school, but he was younger than them. Charlie was only 16 when he signed up be a Commander, and was immediately granted his request. His father had been a great general in his time, so they figured Charlie would excel as well.

Facts of Fun: Layer hates Skitz (and secretly wants him done in) because he reminds him of the sniper that killed his teacher. He also knows that Skitz has another job that trains him to be a bounty hunter.

-Knave is mistaken for a Smeet daily, but he's the same age as the others, except for Layer who's older than them all. Layer also doesn't grasp the meaning of personal space.

-Almond let his sisters pierce his antenna and give him a tatoo. He had nerve damage after the piercing for a while since they cut into a vital vein. He also has a problem with getting his antennas stuck in various objects.

-On Fridays, the squad like to hang out at a night club called The Place. Their favorite games are foosball and pool.

Self-Critique

I'm so happy with how this came out! For once, I was able to draw my characters exactly how I pictured them in my imagination. When designing Ted, Layer, and Skitz, I really made an effort to match their personalities with how they should look. I love the colors I chose too. And Layer's pose! I love it! Charlie and Knave were probably the hardest to get right. I don't like how Charlie's arms came out. Ted's expression cracks me up.
