Description
Link 'Nero' Hyrule
Race: 1/2 Gerudo, 1/4 Hylian, 1/4 Human
Age: 16 (Endgame/The Last Cycle)
Height: 5'8"
Family: Zelda (Stepsister)
The Link known better by his nickname, Nero, is the third of the chosen heroes and the one who holds the Triforce of Courage. Nero first shows up in a few mysterious scenes in the prequel story 'Genesis' and goes completely unseen in the Book of Mudora storyline. It's not until 'The Last Cycle' arc of Endgame where he becomes a main protagonist. Despite his absence in BoM, Nero has a very important connection with several characters in those stories. Similar to Dyami, Nero is usually a very laid-back individual, but is easily angered, as a result of the constant bullying he endured during his childhood, and very impulsive. He is also annoyed by his connection with the Triforce of Courage, believing it to be a joke as he claims to be quite cowardly.
History
- - - - -
Nero originates from one of the two other timelines, in a Hyrule that was in the midst of an industrial revolution. His father was owner of a company that was known for its manufacturing of steam engines. The company fell on hard times following the death of Nero's father until the day a wealthy businessman stepped in to help.
The four-year-old Nero and his mother were quick to develop a close relationship with the man and his young daughter, Zelda. And it was three years later that their parents were married and Nero had a new sibling. As the two neared their teen years, they became connected with the Triforce, marking the beginning of Zelda's terrible visions. An incomprehensible evil would soon unleash its wrath upon the world in the coming years, but she had no idea how to stop it.
Nero used his sister's visions as a guide, bringing him to the location of the slumbering Master Sword. He and Zelda traveled deep into the mountains near Hyrule where a rift was opening from which the evil would soon break free. It was no sooner than they had arrived that the each of the siblings heard a voice speaking to them. At the promise of being given a chance to stop the evil, the two followed the orders of the voice and disappeared into the rift.
(Nero is the only one of the three Links that I didn't have a definite design for. All I knew was that I wanted him to be part Gerudo. So I used a design I originally had in mind for Link (Wisdom), and the stocky/chubby body type I originally intended for Dyami before the reboot.
This picture also took a lot longer than I originally intended. I was ready to finish it up the day I finished the last Link, but I decided to give drawing feet another chance. I loathe drawing feet as they always end up looking odd, almost cartoonish. It ended up taking me about five hours to get his feet to look somewhat normal. Especially since I was trying to give him big feet since it's one of the reasons he was picked on. I don't know if I succeeded, but, whatever.)
