I mentioned this picture in my collab picture of Kel, so this is the picture that shows Kel’s finalized streaks. She has three of them (six if you count both sides), one at the front, one directly in the center, and one in the back.
Anyway, before I get too much into the technicalities, I’ll discuss the circumstances, and then tell you all about my coloring process and such.
Kel often goes down to the beach. While she doesn’t live there, she enjoys visiting. It reminds her of home, which she desperately misses. The ocean isn’t the Nile River, but it’s home to her. While she’s down there one day, a local gang she’s had problems with in the past comes down onto the beach and demands a fight from her. She’s taken them down before and hasn’t had problems showing them who’s boss, so she agrees. Unbeknownst to her, each gang member has a hidden knife on them. The fight begins, Kel has the upper hand, and then, out of nowhere, the gang member she’s going head-to-head with pulls out his knife. She throws up an arm in defense and he slices it open. In retaliation, she quickly whips out her own dagger and slashes him across the face. She backs up quite a bit and allows the blood to drip. She thinks, You’ll pay for that. Then, infuriated beyond belief, she attacks.
Yay, that was fun. I don’t know if I’m putting that in Tears of a Lotus or not. I might, just for kicks and giggles. We’ll see.
Alright, technicalities. I’m not very good at perspective, so, in my attempts to try something new, I drew Kel from behind. I didn’t know what to do with her hand, so, being inspired through my BFF’s pic of Kel, I drew in her dagger. I drew the blood in on paper, but decided to use blood brushes I had found on DA to color it instead. It was lots nicer than my sorry attempts at coloring it from scratch. I dunno why I drew a headshot off to the side and part of me wishes I hadn’t, but at the same time, I don’t think the rage I intended for Kel would’ve been portrayed as well as I would’ve liked, not to mention it’s nice to have the perspective of Kel looking at me to be able to see where her streaks would land and whatnot. I think I probably should’ve added ears off to the side, though. They’d probably be visible. The coloring was pretty easy and I didn’t have all that big of a problem with it. The big problem for me was the background. I wanted to do something realistic because it’s something I need practice with. Perspective is another thing that I feel I need to practice, so I wanted something that showed both. I tried to do docks, that didn’t work, and I didn’t know what else to do, so, following my theme of beaches and oceans (as we can see with the last handful of pictures), I decided to try out another DA tutorial I found for the ocean and beach (that’s the one I have the link for). I couldn’t get the foam to work right, so I used what I could remember of a previous tutorial I’d found, though I can’t find it for some reason. Because of this background, I was able to come up with a story to fit the picture, yay!
I guess that’s all I really have to say for this picture. I hope my realistic backgrounds, my drawings, my coloring style, etc, get better with each picture and I hope I can be counted among the great artists soon.
I drew this picture last month and colored it a couple days ago. I got distracted by coloring one and a half more pictures yesterday, so that’s why I didn’t post.
Please comment. It would make me feel good, please.

I used the second DA tutorial both here and in the previous picture (though for this picture, it was for the foam) and I cannot seem to locate it. I will keep searching.
