Aya's father, Kojiro, ate the Neko Neko "Cat-Cat" fruit. (like Dalton ate the Ushi Ushi "Ox-Ox" fruit)
Aya and her sister can transform like their father. Kojiro was mean and abusive to both his children and his wife, Hisui. Aya eventually took her sister and ran away, not long after Kojiro killed Hisui.
It becomes known later that Aya has a brother, too..someone the Strawhats know very well.
