Yeah... I think we all know what you're talking about, when you mention being a new comer to something old. But that tid bit aside, I'm honestly more impressed with this fan art.. then I am with gold digger. Let me re-phrase that, I think your line work is better. So yeah, I think this is some sweet linework.
