Dreammare, Part 3

I was out of the water, but I was still falling upwards. I don't know how or why, but I had left the endless sea. The word 'Liar' had altogether dissappeared from my mind, for a new fear had arisen. The eyes had returned.

They stared at me as they did previously, but this time was different. It was a different KIND of stare. One of longing,of love, instead of one of hatred and mocking. I swallowed my fears and stared as deeply into those eyes as I could, as if hoping they'd go away.

Of course, they didn't, but they were rotating around me in some form of spiral. I could not look into the very center of the spiral. I could not bear it. There was no reason that I could figure out WHY I couldn't look... I just COULDN'T.

I heard something new. A low humming, followed by a tone. A high tone, like that of a heart monitor. Maybe that was what it was. It began slowly, quietly, but became louder after a few minutes.

I sighed heavily and tried to close my eyes, but as stated before, they were already closed. I tried my hardest to ignore the whiny beeping sound, but it became louder and louder. It was as if it were coming closer to me.

The spiral of eyes was rotating faster and faster as the sound got faster and louder. One final, deafening beep.

Then silence.

I have no recollection of what happened after that point, but that's probably because I focused on the beginning more than the end. All I remember is the eyes. More of them. Too many of them. Mocking me... Hating me... Becoming part of me.
