I have no idea why I waited so long to do a kiss scene with these two. It just.... never occured to me until, like, a week ago, and I resolved to try it out after I finished my Tarot deck.
I've become fascinated by the yaoi romance within Ed, Edd n Eddy, mainly between the three boys themselves, but I noticed most of the decent kisses between them illustrated on devART were done in manga style. As you've noticed, I've done my best to maintain their original style while adding my own artistic license as well. So... I decided to do so with the kiss.
I was trying to set a certain mood with both characters; Double D was meant to be the calm, yet wanting uke, while Ed is the innocent, yet sensitive seme, as I played with the positioning of his hands in Double D's hair. :3
Reference credit goes out to "Let's Draw Manga: Yaoi" and two tutorials by Auroracarina-chan on devART. Thanks a lot, they were a big help!
My main goal in this pic, however, was to make a kiss with cartoony characters look GOOD. Not with the cliche puckered lips either. Those annoy me because they're not authentic. XD
