(Didn't get around to uploading this until just now - FAC didn't like the file size before and I've been too busy/lazy to do anything about it until now. Below is the origonal artist note I posted on dA on Jan 24, 2006.)
It's finished! Finally! 0.0
The assignment was to paint a self portrait in the style of the artist Chuck Close.

I had fun with this assignment, I'm happy with how it came out, and I would do this assignment again (but not this year. Probably next year.) The only problem is that it takes too long . . . I finished it Monday night around one, and by that time I was doing a few squares, wandering over the computer, doing a few squares, getting a snack, doing a few squares . . . you get the idea.
Took the picture in my room when I finished it, which is why there's a soft glare on the top (whoops!).
Acrylic on a 23"x32" piece of luwan; many many hours.

I forgot what that artist's name was! I remember having to watch the movie documentary of him in almost every art class I had in high school (probably had to watch it 3 or 4 times...) and was really taken with his work. His work was huge(!) and very realistic but changed to the more stained glass look when he was disabled. I recognized this piece as his style of art immediately from the thumbnail and just had to look. You did a great job in capturing the style and image. *faves this one too*
