The Co-Judge SEZs:
"You need practice on dark skin? I think the skintone is one of the best parts of the image. It looks watercolor-y, and that's a good thing. It doesn't go with the rest of the image, but it, by itself, is nice. The pattern on the swimsuit bottom is nice too. It looks like there are letters, but i can't make them out.
The background..well it IS appropriate, but I don't think it's good enough to warrant the problems is prouced. The border of the figure is horrendous; it kills the image. If you don't have a decent image editing program, I would've just left the background blank. Also, the surfboard covers most of the background anyway.
Other than that, the figure is well done. The hand on the swimsuit is done very well for as complex of a pose as that is for the fingers. Very good. The face is sexy, but the jaw is a little large. When I look at the hair, I think crayolas. Not so great. Proportions are fine as far as I can tell.
Compared to your other images, I don't think this is one of your best. "red umbrella" strikes me as a much more interesting image, despite it not being as 'technically' complex. The patterns of her kimono are great, and the woman looks charming and alive. I wish you'd have submitted that instead. "yugasa soshoote zankokusa umarekokia" is another image that's nice, and would've worked well in this contest."

I sort of dig the white boarder. It makes me think of this picture as a pop-art type collage and I think it works with the rough coloring style.
Unfortunately, I'm not sure if it was intentional or not.. if you had meant to do it, and stated it thusly then I'd hold it in higher esteem.
"happy accidents" are okay but they don't really give you style points...especially if you admit them.
I agree with Co-J about the kimino pic being the best you've done, but I like this one a lot too.
Another thing I find a little problematic with the picture is that everything is very "left-oriented".. meaning that you have a ton of the picture on the left side of the image or looking toward the left side of the image. The surf-board thrusts laterally to the left, the girl is mainly on the left half of the picture plane, and she's also looking to the left.
There needs to be other directions in the image so the viewer's eyes will swirl around the picture plane and that would create a nicer composition.
There's not too much emotion in it, since the girl is just standing around looking pretty, and the anatomy is a little haphazard in some instances but it's a very good image overall.
It doesn't win anything in the contest, but I think it's an honorable mention at the very least.
