Technically he's called the Hyena-Swine, but I naturally detest that idea...
Hyena was played by an actor named
Daniel Rigney, who has since died...He was probably the best developed Hyena character in any film, dangerous, but also very sympathetic,childlike and noble (In a way). He turned against Moreau when his best friend, Lo-Mai (Cheetah-Man) was murdered by Moreau's right- hand dog, Azzazzelo, for breaking the "Law" by killing a rabbit...Azzazzelo of course, was not punished, so Hyena decided enough is enough. He started a revolt, killed Moreau and Azzazzelo, then walked into a burning building and killed himself after M'Ling and the others stood up to him. He realized that he was neither beast nor man, and couldn't live as what Moreau had made him...tragic.
