Drawn for DG-sama's OC contest. After catching a glimpse of DG-sama's character Leo, I was struck by the similarities between him and Jesper. Especially the part where all of the comments on pictures of Leo said something like "Aw, she's so cute!" - people say that about Jesper all the time. And well, I guess the long hair and the purple sunglasses do not help. ^_^; Leo is wearing one of Jesper's alternate outfits - I am very fond of the Pain shirt, although you can't really see the words in this picture.
This didn't take me long to draw, but it took me several days to color and shade. The people who think coloring via the computer is cheap and takes less time than hand-coloring are sadly mistaken. Perhaps that's the case if you color something in five minutes in Paint... Anyway, I colored this with my tablet, and although I used to use this pseudo-cel shading style back when I had my old laptop, I haven't colored like this in well over a year. Mostly because I couldn't get the same level of control with my laptop touchpad, and I didn't have the tablet. So this was me getting back to my roots, and I found it to be quite challenging. The tablet helped a lot though - way better than using the touchpad, that's for sure!

The background is horribly random and makes no sense. I started off with trying for some sort of gray cityscape, and then I thought the gray bands I drew looked like clouds, and then I spent many many hours striving for clouds... I don't think I was all that successful, though I rather like the ones that these two are standing on. At one point I stuck white wings and halos on Jesper and Leo, but that was just silly.

I've always liked CGing more than hand-coloring. The colors are more vivid, and I don't have to spend ten forevers cleaning up a poorly scanned drawing. Plus, I don't have to run out to buy more supplies when I'm halfway through a picture. If only it didn't take me so long! And if only I could shade as precisely as I can with colored pencils.

Anyway, enough chatter. Let's hear some from you instead. Comments? :D
