Interestingly enough, Muggles were at one time fully aware of the existence of the Diricawl, although they knew it by the name "dodo bird." Unaware that the Diricawl could vanish at will, Muggles believe they have hunted the species into extinction. The International Confederation of Wizards have never found it necessary to inform Muggles about the the Diricawl's continued existence.
