jiraAt first glance I said PASTELS, my partner disagree thinking Acrylics.  Glad to see that I was partially right, the media being Oil Pastels...Good work!

SaltwaterYes, I confirm it is OIL PASTELS, and only oil pastels.
If you look at the sky is is very easy to see which media was used.  ;-)

BTW, I could have done a much better sky if I had used  acrylics, because it is so easy to mix colours on the palette with acrylics;
same thing in soft pastels, because you can smudge colours on the paper to get new colours, new tones and very nice progressive gradients if you master the technique in soft pastels.
Thank you. :-)

jiraWell said “Saltwater”, I agree with your assessments…but sometimes we’re just guided by the moment and just gotta’ get it out of our system. My preferred media are Acrylic & Water Colors, still I’m a great Admirer of All Artistic Media and I thank you for sharing…

JadisI keep looking back at this picture thinking I should paint some pictures of Old Kansas Barns, since we have a lot of them around here. Or other local farm Scenes.

SaltwaterBarns, farms, and other rural scenes are very nice subjects to draw or paint.
So follow your heart's desire and inspiration, and paint one of them;
 and maybe in oil pastels, why not?  ;-)

JadisI"ve been thinking about where to start this morning on that, and think I will began with just some simple abstract things to learn how the media behaves.

SaltwaterThanks. :D
The vermilion of the barn and the cerulean blue of the sky create a very strong contrast.

TeeJay87Apart from colours, I also like the effects of vegetation surrounding the farm.

Those rural landscapes have their charm, don't they ? ;)

I love nature, and landscapes are my favourite subjects.
It is very soothing for the mind to paint the beauty of nature.

Jadisnice scene. I like the warm colors of the landscape in contrast to the bright blue sky.

Oil pastels can give very bright colours.
