Trace
Trace
Trace by ScratchTheFox
Description
Description
Bio is written to suit guidelines for a character creation contest at the Fanart Integrity Club (Fanartists for Artistic Integrity) at deviantART.
Name:
Patricia Stone. Usually called Tracy, or Trace, and dislikes being called Patty or Pat (not to mention Patsy).
Species: Panda bear / rabbit hybrid.
Age: 11
Family:
Tracy’s panda mother, Velvet, is the matriarch of a hidden Zone; her rabbit father Tricky is an immigrant. Velvet is rather overprotective; Tricky is still a bit of an adventurer, even though he’s settled for family life. (They’re quite open to outsiders who do find them, and who adapt to their customs - without them, their people would die out. It was the first time one of their leaders ever picked an immigrant for a husband, though.)
Strengths:
Trace is kind, patient, and a good listener. She’s also quite thorough once she’s working on something, and has a good memory and eye for detail.
Weaknesses:
Trace lacks initiative, and shuns even harmless discomfort such as mild pain, rain, or people getting upset. She’s socially awkward and doesn’t talk to people unless they talk to her first.
Special Abilities:
The tiny jewels on Trace’s gloves and shoes can generate a force field to protect her from the environment (rain, wind, cold and heat) and a lot of physical attacks. When combined with her weight and jump ability, this can let her knock someone out by jumping into the air and landing on them, or dropping on them from higher ground. With the right focus and in the right place, she can cause a miniature earthquake or an avalanche.
On the everyday end of the scale, she has a knack for inking and coloring. She knows how to bring out the personal expression in someone else’s sketches.
Trace was born prematurely, and was very weak her first two or three years in life. In addition, her bunny legs couldn’t carry her panda bear body well at first, and she broke arms and legs more than once. This was the reason for the protective force field; it was a safety measure of her mother’s. Since then, Trace has grown quite strong and healthy, but her mother still fusses over her, and Trace is so used to the force field that she doesn't see that she doesn't need it anymore. Even after she dares to leave her home, she keeps engaging it at the slightest sign of attack or discomfort. Her sheltered upbringing has also given her little chance to interact with other kids, and she has yet to find a real friend.
Relationships With Canon Characters:
Sonic - Trace has only met him once, but he left a lasting imprint. He was brought in to their Zone, after a landslide by a lake nearly drowned and crushed him. He’s scratched, bruised, and freezing cold, but it's obvious he's going to go out there and risk getting hurt again.
When she finally pipes up and asks him about it, he just shrugs and laughs, saying that's part of it, too. Sonic ends up telling her about a number of adventures that either got him injured, sick or made a fool of, and leaves early just to get to the next.
After their brief meeting, Trace can’t help but think there is something better than being perfectly safe. And she feels that in order to figure that out, she’ll have to leave for a while, too.
