Sea Shanties: Press Gang I

This is the opening scene that I did for another sea shanty called “The Press Gang.” Now I was not able to find a sample recording of it. It can only be found on the soundtrack to “Curse of the Somers,” which is a documentary special made on the history of the USS Somers. I’ve tried a new fashion for this Sea Shanty. Instead of giving all the lyrics at once, the words have been individualized with their own panels. If you can recall a piece I submitted before, called “The Pretty Ploughboy,” it mentioned “The Press Gang,” which was responsible for encouraging young men at the time to serve in the navy. In this case, I used Athrun Zala to play the role of the ploughboy. You might say that this is the story through his eyes. He confronts the “Press Gang,” whose faces should be familiar to you, and is persuaded to join aboard a man ‘o war. “Press Gangs” were known, however, to stretch the truth a little bit. The thing you have to ask yourself is if things will turn out for better or worse for Athrun. Future panels will be added later. I leave you think of what will happen.
