The Somme…
On the first of July, 1916, after seven days of extensive artillery bombardment, the Allied forces of Britain and France launched a massive offensive on the German lines. The British forces, consisting mostly of new recruits, began their advance at 7:30 am, at a brisk and steady pace through No Man’s land. Believing that the artillery barrage had softened and weakened the German defenses, the British advanced confidently, expecting no resistance. However, this notion proved false. In actuality, the German defenses were still well intact. As a result, the British forces suffered over 58,000 casualties within the course of the day.

....I must say,I have watched your video and I must thank you for it,you have done a great deal of work and have put so much time into that work, making master piece after master piece, you were dead on with many of the events that took place in world war one, this picture you have,is so beautiful, and yet brings the greatest sadness my heart has ever felt,The war, which showed the evils of man,the horrors of war,the sadness that only one that has been there could feel,Sean Halnais, you are in my eyes, one of the greastest people to ever live, fogive me if this all sounds...silly...I know this is a waste of your most important time, but I felt I must atleast let you know that someone thinks that what you do is...something he will remeber for the rest of his life...forgive me..awesome..pic..^_
