that's kind of a composite of many pictures i've been drawing in these last two weeks.
first i've decided the name of those creatures: sesroh-orthnahym, aka SOH.
then the proportions for the adults and kids.
then i solved the complicated question of the tail (finally!).
then i started to think "what am i going to do with them?". i thought... maybe an arising civilization after the human extinction (upper left corner picture)? hum, sounds good! but right now i can't think of any dettails to do it, so i'm going to use them as mere "tools", justa another shape that characters can take (human, horse, now SOH).
that's it.
now, i need some advice... should i leave the feet with a single hoof or give them some more (3 would look cool)? i mean, if the hands have more fingers, why not the feet? beside, it would make the action of standing easier, because three fingers give more support... what do you say???

Wow, you obviously put a lot of thought into this! I love these characters, please keep them the way they are (one hoof per foot)! They wouldn't look as equine with three toes.

oh, another thing (will i ever shut up??? guess not...)
that intermediate shape between horse and SOH is supposed to be kind of a "hare-horse". quick reacting, running by leaps with their strong hind legs, being able to stand only on their hind feet to look at the horizon, shorter neck to support the larger head, eyes more forwardly pointing than horse's and hands with 3 fingers + 1 thumb, to grab things, dig the ground or whatever they want to do with them. sounds plausible, i think...

okay, i'll take your advices! i'm keeping the hooves in the feet, at least for now. i've tried some designs with three toes and they resemble dinosaurs instead of horses!
by the way, the first half of my comment os gone, so i'll try to re-write it here:
a little explanation about the human age equivalence and the way they grow:
"they are born much like human babies, short, fatty, hardly able to walk and defenseless. then, after the (1st year, the hocks...)."
about the age equivalence, a SOH 1 year old is like 3 years old human, able to walk and beginning to show the atletic potential. a SOH with 3 years is like a human with 9, very active teenagers. after that they grow up into adults, until 10 SOH's years.
hope you understand that. ^.^'

I love them, they are very original :D I hope you'll draw some coloured characters ^_^
In my opinion they're ok like that, maybe in real life it wouldn't be so easy to stand on their hoofs, I'm not sure, but that's not real life and I think that's what gives them the horse graceful mainly. They can also kick with them XD
And although hands evolved (for taking things or manipulate objects) feet may stay like that (because evolution just occurs because of chance changes)
I hope that would be useful for you ^-^ Continue like that!!!

(...) 1st year, the hocks (from heels to ground) start to grow up, leaving the rest of the leg bones behind. that give those kids an extreme speed, so they're very active at that age. the, between the 3rd and 10th years, the hocks stop and the rest of the body starts to grow, so they achieve their adult size and proportions. simple, ain' it?
