Alyssa James aka Bandit Lyzza

I've been working on creating a new style for myself. And as I've being working on it I've been updating my characters slowly. Though I will admit now, some of my most classic characters will never make the change to my new style. It's been a real learning experience and definitely one that has me reminiscing on the past as I inch forward towards the future.

That being said I realized as I was drawing Bandit Lyzza that she really is my milestone character. She's been around for five years now which makes her one of my longest running continued characters. Also Bandit Lyzza is the ONLY one of my long running characters that was never really involved in any story I've written.

Bandit Lyzza is more than just a character to me, she originally was based of a friend of mine. And while we're both now in different colleges we still keep in touch and I believe Bandit Lyzza is a symbol of out ongoing friendship. So this pic is also a dedication to her and to our friendship.

As for the pic itself I did my unsual two point challenge.

First challenge: make-up/glitter. (while Bandit Lyzza never wore make-up I wanted to see how it would look on her.)

Second challenge: Sunglasses. (I've always had a subtle hatred for reflective glass in 2D mostly because it's so hard to do. But this time I stared down my demons and I don't think it came out too bad.

As for the asian appearance when Bandit Lyzza is really a caucasian is that I was experimenting with different appearences for her.

The barely visible writing in the background is Bandit Lyzza's trademark quote: "Do you have a Death Wish?" named after her pistol Deathwish.
