I finished this pencil drawing on Sept. 15, 2001; so, I obviously drew this 5 years ago, when I was huge on Sailor Moon and just starting to really draw. If you don't really care to read where this drawing came from, just go ahead and skip all this blabber about my (sort of) original story.
In a nutshell, I ended up creating my own sort of Sailor Moon-like story called Universal Soldier with female (and some male) warriors based on different elements of the Universe (like Universal Soldier, Galaxy Soldier, Star Soldier, and Sun Soldier just to name a select few, so the possibilities were almost infinite). It started out as a drawing I did on the bus home from school in Junior High and kept growing and growing to fill up one of those huge 3-and-a-half inches thick binders (all drawings in plastic covers too!). It's almost pathetic, really.
When thumbing through the binder (looking into my dear past...) I can see how many drawings I referenced from animes/mangas like Sailor Moon, Digimon, Pokemon, and Gundam Wing mostly (that's what was mostly available then). I copied so many characters and tried to make them look like my own (or I just gave them different hair colors... XP).
Well, it kept growing because I kept hooking characters up and then had them have kids, and then their kids hook up and have kids... I'm surprised how in depth it got. I think I got up into 7 "seasons" and then 2 more OVA-like "seasons" with like the original character's grandkids and great-grandkids. Wow... I'm amazed myself. Anyways... onto the drawing itself.
This is of my original characters Molly (daughter of Holly and Conly or Soltem: I can't remember what his name was...) and Anthony, AKA Tony (son of Jennifer and Anthony). Well, they hook up and there you go.
I was trying to add something to the drawing besides just the figures and I got an idea for a border that was cute, so I went with it. And the drawing itself is surprisingly well-done for that particular time that I drew it. My "skills" had gotten better since I had first started; trust me.
Kudos to those of you that can find all of my influences/references. Trust me, they are there. If I post more pictures of from this story, things will become blatantly(sp?) obvious.
