It was a gradient set to a layer (mode on OVERLAY) that was moved to the very top.

Hope that doesn't confuse ya.

@___@ Man, I do not even use layers. "I used a duplicate layer with this Overlay transparent layer and I moved the opacity to 10% and colored it directly with the Pen tool."
