What started off as just a drawing exercise became this monstrosity. Ahh, I love it when the drugs kick in. Very little of this pic is "original". The elf girl is really a character from Louie The Rune Soldier, and that illustration ended around waist level. I had to make up the rest of her, with influence from another illustration to make up her skirt. The crowd consists of pieces of several photographs all mish-mashed together, but some folks are based on illustrations, like the Sikh papa (a nod to an old Sikh buddy of mine), because very little good stock imagery was available on Google. The daughter was based on a photograph of an adult Indian woman. The background is from AT&T Park in San Francisco, but to accomodate the drawing, I reversed it. I was too lazy to draw the gigantic glove atop the fanlot.

Some of you might recognize Professor Steamhead of Ninja Hight Scool fame. He's enjoying a corndog.

As for being really hastily coloured, I apologize. I'm leaving for Hawaii tomorrow at 8am. I don't get off work until 1am, so I'm a bit pressed for time all over. Speaking of which - I'm late.

Animaker131Ooh, I love this! Very cute idea! feh, so what if there are a few mistakes here & there. They're not terribly noticable, & besides, I know I get far worse mistakes in my drawings that never get the healthy criticism they deserve. XD Besides, we have to make mistakes in order to get better. ^v^ I have to keep reminding myself about that. XD Overall, it's very well composed & I love the background! everyone has a great sense of presence & it really feels like your there. ^v^ & the elf is adorable! She looks like she could be looking for link. XD Nice job! ^V^

calahnaok well you seem to have some anatomy quirks here. i'm going to be blunt.
the shoulder is too low, it could be connected to her neck like that, on the wrist there's a lump on both sides, humans only have one facing outside. i have to suggest not doing rainbow hair like that, it makes it almost impossible to shade.
now i'm really disturbed by her ears. even with her head turned like that the size difference wouldn't be so great. and the closer ear is lumpy. i used to have trouble with these things on elves so i draw a line from one ear to the next for accuracy.
i think HER right arm is a little hight and small at the joint.
like i said anatomy quirks. i still like the effort you put into it tho. the bg can make a big difference on pics like this.
sorry if i seem a little harsh.

SmilinJuanValdezYeah I been "blunted". (heh) You know what's weird? The shoulder error - I saw it once, then I STOPPED seeing it. I dunno why, but for some reason it disappeared. When you pointed it out I almost had to block out the rest of the pic to see again. I recall saying something about a mother - that I shall not repeat here when I focused in on that. Ugh that's just sad. Oh well, can't fix it now....

Wrist - lump on both sides.... You mean her wristwatch? Well if you see it, then it's there for others to see too, but I did not intend to double lump any wrists. It could be on account of poor inking.

You are the ONLY other person (besides me) who does not like the rainbow hair. Or at least has so far claimed. It was a failed experiment - what can I say? I have seen rainbow hair in coloured pencil before by other artists that made it look wonderful.

Ears - this particular elf was not blessed with plesant looking ears to begin with. They were meant to be unsightly. Perhaps a little Prince Charles even. (maybe they're just well nibbled on) Her right ear has lumps too (they were drawn) but revealing curves are hidden by rainbow hair. She hates them and wishes she had human ears. There is also a sort of San Francisco Giants joke tied in with all of it. Ehh - I'm not too worried about the ears so much. They twitch, they move, the blow in the wind.... I imagine elf ears can move around quite alot too. Perhaps I have the wrong attitude toward this though. I do see what you mean by the size difference, but I'm not sure exactly what I would want to do to fix the problem.

Small at the joint or big on the chest - take your pick. I really scrood the pooch on that one.

The bg is chalk full of errors too.
