Talk about a time capsule! This little sculpture dates all the way back to high school Art 1 class, late my sophomore year (spring 1996), and is probably the oldest of my art assignments that I can comfortably upload to my gallery.
I don't remember all the details of the assignment, but it was basically to create a pin-sized sculpture out of Fimo. We also used bits and pieces of aluminum cut from various pop cans, such as the spotted green background, which came from a can of 7-Up, I believe.
I would have taken this picture with a digital camera, but the camera's battery was low, and my scanner actually did a decent job on it. I scanned in the ruler as well to give you an idea of its size -- yes, the real thing is less than 2 inches tall.
This sculpture used to have a pin hot-glued on the back so I could wear it (even though it was a little heavy for a pin), but the glue came off long ago, so it's just a mini decoration now.
Medium: Fimo & aluminum
Time: About one hour(?)
Scale: 150px/in

Hey, awesome, clay art! Are pictures of that sort of thing really allowed here? I have tons of photos of clay dragons that I've sculpted, but I didn't really think that they were proper material for this site.
Using the soda can as a background is a great idea - goes quite well with the piece as a whole. I'm a little confused by the lion's face. Guess I just can't see it too well. I love the mane and the details added to the paws.
