Description
Yet another one of my high-school era art assignments, this one dating back to spring 1998, in my senior year.

I must admit, I wasn't planning on doing a small series of 'time-capsule' drawings from my years in high school; it was a rather spontaneous decision I made after completing my lastest drawing.

Anyway. Let it be said that, frankly, I hate still-lifes. Maybe it's because most of my assignments from high-school art class were either photos or still-lifes. For this assignment, which we worked on over two class periods, the art teacher brought in some silver ware and we were to draw them out, reflections and all. I guess it was really pretty fun to work on, but I still prefer drawing from mental reference.

If you look closely at the small tea kettle, low in the front, do you notice a small face in the middle of it? That was me.

This is probably the best pencil drawing from my high-school years, primarily because of its high-contrast tones. The teacher was always insisting that we make our drawings (and I quote...) "Darker!!"

Medium: Ebony pencil & kneaded eraser
Time: About three hours
Scale: 55px/in
