Originally a concept drawing for a feline critter I drew back in early spring, which I scanned several times throughout its development. Ironically I like the concept pose much better than the finished result that grew from it. Shown is a basic idea for the proportions befitting a large cat like a lion or tiger. Key features for the 'big cat' include its thick, powerful legs, long thick tail, large nose and mouth, and small eyes. Smaller cats (i.e. housecats) have comparatively smaller noses, thinner legs, and larger eyes.

For ease of reference I also sketched out the joint structure of this sketch to give an idea of how the legs are generally sized. These lines were the original gesture sketch I started this drawing with, and they represent the approximate placement and posture of the major limbs.

Drawn completely from memory and imagination, with no pictoral references from real cats.

Medium: 0.7mm pencil
Time: About one hour
Scale: 75px/in

PS: No, don't ask to see what the finished result was -- I'm not uploading it.

EraRillianThis one looks very good! However, just like the dragon one, this little kitty would need a higher shoulder and higher hips...Think of it as giving the kitty, curves. There should be a nice indent on the back. These joints and bones look ver good though. Very nicely done!
