Man, is my shading hand tired after a full scene drawing... Anyway.
What you see here is Duke Garland fighting a cave dragon. Who is winning? It's impossible to tell at this point.
This picture is inspired by an old Sierra/Gamearts game called "Zeliard" -- a side-scrolling action/platform type game developed back in the days when a 64 color monitor and Adlib sound card were considered cutting edge.
The story of Zeliard is a simple one: In a land called (conveniently enough) Zeliard, an ancient demon named "Jashiin" breaks out of his 2,000-year prison and for revenge wreaks havoc on the land. Jashiin first floods the land in a steady downpour, then he turns the rain to sand and the crops and fields suffer, and finally he turns the kingdom's princess to stone.
Then a guardian spirit of the land appears with good news: a hero will arrive and save their land, banishing the evil Jashiin permanently. This is where Duke Garland steps in: As the hero foretold to come and save the land of Zeliard, the task falls to him to adventure through cavernous labyrinths, defeat Jashiin's powerful servants ruling them, and ultimately face off against the demon himself.
So, back to the this drawing, or 'illustration', if you will. Late in the game is a maze of fire caverns with high temperatures, aggressive monsters, and invisible air currents. Navigate through their treacherous passageways and you encounter its ruler, the Dragon. Even at a high character level, the Dragon is a difficult encounter -- possibly the toughest 'boss' in the entire game -- because of its potent fire breath. Get cornered near the edge of the arena, between the dragon's flame and its claws, or otherwise be hit from the wrong angle, and it's all "Game Over". Its thick hide is difficult to pierce, and while its head is more vulnerable, striking the head more often than not results in a quick bite and severe (easily fatal) injury to the hero.
There is no 'trick', no secret to defeating the difficult boss; victory is a matter of recognizing and evading the dragon's attacks, and quick reflexes with every step.
Medium: Colored pencil
Time: About four hours
Scale (full view): 60px/in
Hmm... Looks like I'll have to work on perspective issues sometime.

A great big "huzzauh!" to you for doing a full scene! And in four hours -- I applaud you!
The perspective in the picture isn't bad, but a few of the angles don't agree. The dragon appears to be aiming somewhere behind the Duke, and the Duke's shield seems to be reflecting the fire in an odd way.
Still, the lighting in the scene is amazing, and the cave is drawn very nicely. Also, considering people aren't your favorite thing ot draw, this one came out very well-done. I do like the "wings" on his helmet, and I hope you'll draw a picture of both him and the dragon seperately, so we can see both.
Also, is the dragon in this pic true to the one in the game, or has it been amalgamated with one of your existing dragon species?
