Untamed Rivals

For having done well in the "Negative" contest I hosted last fall, IMO for being the best overall entry to that contest, this picture is for Thirteen_Black_Roses -- a little belated, perhaps, but finally done. She requested that I take Squall and/or Seifer from Final Fantasy 8 and transform them into ponies, similar to the other handful of pony-fied characters already in my gallery.

So, here they are, Squall and Seifer, both turned into ponies. Considering how FF8 strived for realism in its character design, I decided to use a more realistic-horse style for these two than the somewhat more cartoon-like pony style that I've used previously. And, like the requests for GollumDragon and Rebus, I simply had to do it using my inverted technique. I particularly like how the white fluffing on Squall's coat turned out, although the other colors didn't come out quite as good as I had hoped they might. I also tried including Squall's gunblade in the picture to complement Seifer's, but I couldn't get it to "balance" right, so I ended up taking it back out.

Oh well! Time to move on to other inspiration and ideas.
