Description
Brianhjh requested me to draw an Oriental dragon. Now, I'm no fan of the Eastern style dragon physiology -- too long and coily, legs too short (or outright "misplaced"), and so on -- but I agreed to it, so here it is.
And I didn't skimp on the details, either.
Neither time nor disinterest, nor my scanner nearly ripping through the paper less than halfway through it (seriously) stopped me. A torn sheet of paper isn't exactly a dream to work with, but I worked through it after taping up the rip (from the backside, of course). Much thanks to GIMP's tools, I wouldn't have been able to clean up the damage without it.
Nothing special to say about this dragon though. As much as I don't like Orientals, he nonetheless was quite fun to create!
Media: Colored and ebony pencil (plus minor computer edits)
Time spent: Five hours (plus two hours on computer)
Size: 75px/in at full view.
PS: If you have a request you'd like me to draw... well... don't call me, I'll call you.

Oooh! I love all of your dragons but this one has got to be my favorite. I love the way you posed him, as if he is climbing the sky itself. I know that from the discription you said you don't like this kind of body style, but you did a fantastic job!

Wow, great job, (how did I miss this one?) I like how you out so much detail into your pics. Scales, darn them...I'd love to put them on my dragons but I'm not always that patient, lol. I like the colors you used, nice combo. I like Oriental dragons ok, but they're harder to draw I think because of their long bodies.

Well, this is rather a detailed nice dragon. I like the way of colouring you use. But somehow, i think the background is rather too light. Yes, to me.
Everyone have different views to it. Just like how you see that Eastern Dragon. I am used to seeing Eastern Dragon, so i may not be able to point out anything wrong with it.
That's all. Keep up with that nice work! :)

holy cow thats good! i luv the deatails!!!
i like all dragons/creatures so im a fan ^^'
the way i think about it...sure its disproportional but snakes evolvesd from lizards and their skeletons have limbs but the limbs dont show outside...maybe its the same here XD lol j/k
its beautiful! thats all i can say and this *faves*
for once in my life i actually drew a dragon without sketching it first... with 100% colored pencils...O_O my friends all think its cool and want me to post it so i probably am... but i think its a little...weird?
anyway im probably bothering you with all this typing so im gonna go away now :P bye ^^

Cool picture! I like that the clouds in the background reflect the style of the dragon.
As usual, I love the colouring, shading, and details! I'm particularly fond of the tail, specifically the end of it. LOVE the coloring and shading there. ^__^
It got ripped?! Woah! I'd never know, dude, it looks fine. Good job fixing it up, then. Hopefully it didn't rip anything vital to the picture or anything... That would REALLY stink. Sorry that happened to you, dude.

Yes, I did draw all the scales; I use a method much like shingling a roof, by drawing out row after row of tiny little 'U' shapes. It's a quick process, really; for example an area of 100 scales needs only about half a minute or so to scale in, plus time for the first layer of color beneath it and the top layer above it.
