The Trees

These are the trees of the 5th Planet, the 5th Earth. The structure here is very complex, more than our planet. At the tree tops, since the planet is as far away from its sun as Mars is to ours, it gets cold. So the tree tops are covered with frost. However these trees grow almost a mile high. And below the canopy, it gets hotter. At first the air is just warm where there is still plenty of light. But the lower you go, it gets warmer.
Thats because the tree's moss leaves help hold back the heat coming from the unstable volcanic surface below. It gets so hot down there that most of the water on this planet is in vapor form, forming a think cloud close to the ground. The trees absorb the water there though osmosis, then it is pumped to its surface with the leaves. I'll explain it later.
