MadamePenguinI do grey scale then color on most of my paintings rather than my drawings. I like how your piece made a more defined character because of the shading though, and what really makes this interesting is the play of light across her back which shows that there are actual muscles there instead of a flat plane.

Task002Thanks and yeah painting this in gray scale first did allow me to concentrate on form and not worry about color. I like it but i don't like how the color is skewed a bit. It'll take some practice with the settings and multiple color layers before I get it right, but it is progress :D
