Don't Cry, Morph...

Yesterday, Tony Hart, a brilliant artist and children's TV presenter, passed away. I can just about remember watching his show 'Hartbeat' when I was younger, and he encouraged children, young and old, to draw and create art, using any and nearly all materials available to them. He loved and lived to draw, but that was dashed when he suffered two strokes a few years ago, and he lost the use of his hands. The loss of his ability to draw was, to quote the man himself, "The greatest cross I have to bear."

He inspired many a young person to go to art school, and his most famous creation was the little plasticine character, Morph. If Morph was never thought of, then the Aardman studios probably wouldn't exist.

Rest in peace, Tony Hart.
